On Sunday 2 November 2025, Dre from LOOP - best known as one half of the UK DJ duo - delivered an unforgettable solo DJ set at the New York City Marathon. Although this wasn’t a LOOP appearance, Dre brought the same trademark energy and uplifting presence that defines the duo’s live shows and DJ sets.
Mile 16: the iconic Wall of Sound
Dre was based at the Mastercard Mile 16 Cheer Zone, a location famous for its incredible atmosphere. Mile 16 marks the moment runners emerge from the silence of the Queensboro Bridge and enter Manhattan, greeted by a wave of noise, music and encouragement known as the Wall of Sound.
Being responsible for helping shape that moment was a huge honour for Dre from LOOP, and she embraced it with eight straight hours of high-energy tracks, MC-ing, and crowd hype.
Music requests and support messages in real time
Mastercard introduced a dynamic QR code system that allowed spectators to send song requests and personal messages of support directly to Dre’s laptop. She read them out live, tailoring the music and motivation to the thousands of marathoners pushing into the second half of the race.
This real-time connection created a powerful, emotional atmosphere - one that Dre helped to fuel from start to finish.
A proud solo moment for Dre from LOOP
Even though this was a solo performance, it reflects the same passion and audience-focused energy Dre brings to LOOP’s work across UK weddings, corporate events and parties. Her appearance at the NYC Marathon stands as an inspiring achievement and a proud moment for us - showing the reach, versatility and professionalism she brings to every performance.
